British Coast - Stage 061 - Emsworth to Eastoke

28th January 2026. The walking year starts with sunrise over Emsworth, the beginning of the Hampshire coast, and mirror-like Chichester Harbour, with its teaming flocks of waterfowl. The Langstone Mill, and the only crossing to Hayling Island. But the east side of the Island offers few chances to walk on the coast itself, forced down lanes, paths, and later roads and estates. But a stretch along the Mill Rithe, then Mengham Rithe - pushing their way into the Island. Finally reaching the Hayling Lifeboat Station, and the view back across the East Sand and West Wittering, two months after this slow winter’s circuit of Chichester Harbour began. Round Sandy Point, and back to the long stretch of beach and views of the Isle of Wight. 14 miles (Total walked 907 miles, 14 in Hampshire)
